It’s been a while since we last connected, and can you believe it? We’re on day 1 of the BER months! In many parts of the world, that means holiday cheer is just around the corner. I recently had a whirlwind of emotions during a short but sweet trip back home to Mumbai, and I can’t wait to share some fun tips, thoughts, and a personal tale of vulnerability with you.

“Self-Love and Traditions”

We kicked things off with the beautiful tradition of Raksha Bandhan. For those who don’t know, it’s all about celebrating the unique bond between brothers and sisters. Sisters tie ornate strings on their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing protection and heartfelt prayers. In return, brothers pledge the same…followed by gifts. It’s like a heart-warming insurance policy for siblings, and I was lucky enough to be there in person for it after so many years.

But this got me thinking about symbols and intentions. A few years ago, I had a revelation – the first promise of protection should be to oneself. After all, you can’t offer what you don’t have, right? So, I did something a bit quirky – I tied myself a friendship band. Yes, you read that right! This friendship bracelet served as a daily reminder to always be in MY own corner. It’s been a game-changer! I always love hearing from you, so share with me your own personal traditions that SHOW (not tell) that you put yourself front and center.

Tip of the Month

What some real-life self-care looks like:

  1. Morning Mindfulness: Sarah, one of our subscribers, starts her day with a few minutes of deep breathing and mindfulness exercises. It helps her stay centered and sets a positive tone for the day ahead.
  2. Tech-Free Saturdays: Jordan has a tradition of dedicating Saturdays to disconnecting from screens. No emails, no social media – just quality time with family, hobbies, and nature.
  3. The Gratitude Journal: Maria keeps a gratitude journal by her bedside. Each night, she writes down three things she’s thankful for. It’s a simple practice that has brought immense positivity to her life.

The “No” Challenge: Tarun decided to challenge himself to say “no” more often to commitments that drain his energy. This small but powerful change has allowed him to prioritize self-care.

Don’t take my word for it. Try it out. It’s truly life-changing!.


Speaking of self-care, let me share a vulnerable story with you. Last week, I found myself in a situation that brought out my deepest insecurities. I was asked to speak at an event, and the thought of public speaking terrifies me.

I spent nights fretting, worrying about messing up and feeling like an imposter. But then, I decided to confront my fears head-on.

The day of the event arrived, and my heart was racing. But as I started speaking, something incredible happened. I felt a surge of confidence and realized that vulnerability and authenticity is a source of strength. It wasn’t a flawless performance, but it was honest and real. The audience connected with me and responded very warmly.

This experience taught me that sometimes, self-care means stepping out of our comfort zones, acknowledging our vulnerabilities, and finding strength in them. My message was more important than my insecurities and needed to make its way into the world.

Now, when this intention goes out into the universe, it’s not selfish. It’s self-care and self-love cranked up to eleven.

Water Your Tree of Relationships

Is that we want to enjoy the fruits of life, but can we do that if we don’t nurture the tree? That tree is you, and the fruits symbolize all your relationships. But let’s face it, We’ve been conditioned to believe that self-care is selfish. It’s time to rewire our brains to make self-care a priority and become the caring adult voice we wish we all had.

Let’s reflect together: If you were a phone that needed to function all day, could you do it without charging every day? Probably not.
